Girls and mentors are encouraged to register today for the 2023 Technovation Girls Season

Los Angeles, Jan. 10–Technovation announced today the kick off of its 2023 season and global competition. The global tech education non-profit is building a movement to reach and support 25 million girls and young women to become technology leaders and entrepreneurs in the next 15 years. Registration remains open until March 22, but participants are encouraged to sign up today for the 12-week curriculum. The earlier teams get started, the more time they will have to develop their projects.

Technovation is introducing three new climate-focused units to empower youth to tackle issues of responsible consumption, water access, and climate action. There are additional resources to help students connect effectively with their local communities and experts to develop a better understanding of the problems they are tackling. The new units were developed based on previous season’s data analysis and global trends in an effort to make the program as relevant and timely as possible.

“Being an entrepreneur is not easy and innovating is even harder—especially when you are tackling complex issues ranging from climate change to food security. That is why we are so excited to be able to help girls gain a deeper understanding of these complex issues while developing the valuable skills of critical thinking, real-world problem solving, and collaboration. We are excited to empower these girls to go even further with their energy, passion and vision!” said Tara Chklovski, CEO and founder of Technovation.“Now is the time for changemakers to sign up and make a difference within their community!”

Data analysis from the last few years—since the start of the pandemic—showed a global drop in teamwork as online collaboration proved to be challenging and much less motivating for many participants. To enhance the learning experience for participants, Technovation is introducing new resources on learning how to speak with new groups, increasing empathy, user adoption studies, as well as a robust curriculum for mentors helping them with more resources and templates so they can provide better support to budding technology entrepreneurs.

This season, Technovation is focusing on helping its global community come back together locally and globally when possible. Technovation Regional Pitch Events will return in May for eligible chapters and teams to pitch their app and business ideas locally and showcase them to the broader community. Chapter Ambassadors who support 10 or more teams of students in their community are eligible for select travel and learning opportunities. And, Technovation will once again be sponsoring trips for finalists to attend Technovation’s World Summit in person at the conclusion of the season. It’s an exciting return to a global gathering for teams.

“This 2023 season is such an incredible moment to participate in Technovation Girls as a student or volunteer. There are more resources and opportunities to help teams make a difference in their community than ever before. We need all changemakers to make their voices heard!” said Rebecca Anderson, Senior Director of Programs for Technovation. “We especially want to encourage girls and mentors from all over to experiment with ChatGPT and see how it can make building your project easier.”

Over the past 17 years, Technovation has reached more than 350,000 participants in 120-plus countries. After completing the program, 76% of Technovation alumnae pursue STEM degrees, while 60% work in STEM careers.
