Who is an Ambassador?
A Women Techmaker Ambassador lead the work on the ground. They activate their local community to learn more and go further. Ambassadors engage in four ways through quarterly activities:
- Events. Hosting meetups, panels, workshops, and summits.
- Public speaking. Share your expertise and personal journey at conferences, on podcasts, and in classrooms.
- Content creation. Publish articles, talks, tutorials, and case studies — through Technovation’s channels and your own.
- Mentorship. Peer-to-peer support and guidance for the next generation. You learn by teaching.

What is being Assessed?
Alignment, Vision & Voice: Evaluates how the applicant presents themself and what they value; and their awareness, and genuine fit with WTM’s mission. Assessing whether this person understands the spirit of WTM and can articulate it to others — a key trait for someone who will represent and grow the community.
Community Leadership & Impact: Assessing whether the applicant is already embedded in a community in a meaningful way — not just attending, but actively contributing.
Technical Engagement & Breadth: We are not looking for how much technical skill someone has, but rather whether they engage with technology meaningfully and with curiosity. Someone with no current skills but a clear interest in learning can score here, as can someone with deep multi-disciplinary expertise.
Perspective & Representation**: Whether the applicant brings a perspective, background, or regional presence that broadens the WTM Ambassador community — not just demographic diversity, but diversity of thought, industry, geography, and experience level. This is especially important given the program’s goal of ensuring Ambassadorship reflects more than just one type of contributor.

Application Questions
Do existing Ambassadors need to apply?
No, if you were an Ambassador with the program under Google, and keep up with your quarterly activities you maintain your status as an Ambassador.
Who is eligible to apply?
- You must be over 18 years of age
- Should have experience being an active participant or leader of a community before, as a professional, student, or part of a community, for example working with a local organization or being part of a student club
- Interest or experience in a tech focused or tech adjacent space
- Anyone of any gender
- Alignment with Women Techmaker’s vision of bringing more gender equity into technical spaces
- Geography: We welcome participants from every nation and state in the world and recognize that the politics of a country do not always reflect the reality or politics of an individual’s life. We encourage women everywhere to hone their skills as problem solvers and community builders even as many deal with conflict or other geopolitical turbulence. As an organization, Technovation stands for peace and justice.
Will I get a job if I participate in this?
There is no guaranteed job opportunity from becoming a Women Techmakers Ambassador. We will share job opportunities from the corporate partners that work with Technovation that you are encouraged to apply to where applicable.
Do I need to be a highly technical person, for example someone who codes like an engineer or developer, to apply?
No! There are a variety of skills and expertise that make the tech industry what it is, designers, product managers, researchers, even community support for users. All members of the industry are welcome and encouraged to apply to be a Women Techmakers Ambassador.
How much time does it usually take and what kind of work does it imply when you are an WTM ambassador? How flexible is the program for students who are balancing academic and professional responsibilities?
Ambassadors should be spending 10+ hours per quarter working on completing quarterly activities. Beyond that the experience of what you do is to your discretion. Technovation will provide opportunities like International Women’s Day to support you running an event or public speaking, and volunteering with other Technovation programs as a means of mentorship. The intent is that you bring connection and expertise to the role and we can help you magnify that reach and align it to a global community of like-minded individuals. With all activities laddering into the goal of more gender equity in tech.
To learn more about what quarterly activities and how they are reported, review this WTM Ambassador resource.
How much does it cost to be a WTM Ambassador?
Becoming an Ambassador is free of charge. There may be costs for things like running events. Campaigns such as International Women’s Day may have an opportunity to request a small amount of funds from Technovation to support your budget. Beyond that, we are working to share more resources and support on how to secure local partnerships and sponsorships that can support your work as an Ambassador.
I would love to learn more about how ambassadors are supported throughout the program. For example, are there mentorship opportunities, resources, or training sessions provided to help us grow both technically and as community leaders?
Technovation is continually building out the resources and learning opportunities for WTM Ambassadors. We look forward to offering more technical learning through things like the Oxford Saïd Business School AI Leadership Certificate (coming late 2026), the Builder’s Room series, and some technical sessions run by fellow Women Techmakers Ambassadors. As community leaders, we’re working on an interview series, where WTM Ambassadors can share their expertise with peers and another generation of leaders.
How success is measured for ambassadors and what opportunities exist after the program (such as continued involvement, networking, or career support)?
Success is measured by staying up to date with reported activities. The specific metrics per activity are still being formalized. Beyond the program, there are no specific outlets to other opportunities, our focus is on development of Ambassadors over the course of their time with the program.
What is the tenure of a WTM Ambassador?
Once accepted as a WTM Ambassador, your status will be reassessed on an annual basis. Ambassadors will receive a warning after missing two (2) logging deadlines of quarterly activities. If a third deadline is missed then the Ambassador will be offboarded and lose
Ambassador status. Ambassador status can be regained by re-applying for the program. Ambassadors can step away from the program at any time, it may impact future acceptance to the program.
