Technovation helps young people and women across 100+ countries become AI innovators, entrepreneurs, and leaders. In 2025, the Women Techmakers community joined Technovation, marking an important step toward our strategic goal of supporting women in positions of influence, power, and leadership in STEM.
Our adult community is primarily made of our alum, women techmakers, mentors, judges, educators, and ambassadors. We are focused on building a global community: people who show up for each other, champion Technovation, and stay connected to long after participating in our programs and accelerator.
As Technovation's Women Techmakers Community Director, you'll drive the strategic evolution of Women Techmakers and integration of our alumna, through shared learning, networking, and events. Your responsibilities will specifically include but are not limited to:
Lead Women Techmakers & Technovation Alumna community strategy
- Set strategic direction and goals for the Women Techmakers and Technovation Alumna community, while supporting the Community Managers with day-to-day programming and execution.
- Engage as an escalation point and thought partner for strategy, corporate partner relationships, and major initiatives.
- Review community performance data and engagement trends to inform broader cross-community strategy.
- Oversight and management of the community budget, specifically mini-grants, software costs, and contractor stipends
- Management of Ambassador program, including managing regional leads, virtual touchpoints, compliance with program requirements
Support cross-community collaboration
- Development of a focused calendar of key annual engagements, including career fairs, the International Women's Day event, and support for organizing in-person events.
- Partner with the Programs, Marketing, Operations, and Fundraising teams to align cross-community initiatives with broader organizational goals.
- Lead the annual campaigns for the community, mainly International Women’s Day (March and April) and Ada Lovelace Campaign (October) with support from the Marketing team
- Lead the mini-grant application and selection process with the support of the Operations Team
- Collaborate with the Assessment team to evaluate cross-community event and campaign impact, and use findings to inform future planning.
- Oversight of recognition and retention strategies, spotlights, milestones, and appreciation efforts for the community
- Monitor adherence to, and manage violations of, the Code of Conduct and Community Guidelines
Grow Technovation-owned credentials and learning pathways
- Track credential enrollment, completion, and impact data to demonstrate value to members and partners.
- Position credentials as a pathway connecting community members to each other and to the broader Technovation community (e.g., alumnae pursuing credentials alongside WTM professionals).
- Managing inbound and outbound requests to conferences, fellowships, and courses
Skills and Experience Required
5+ years in community management, and people leadership, with at least two years in a role where community building was the primary responsibility rather than a secondary one. Nonprofit or global community experience is a strong plus.
Community and Relationship Skills
- Demonstrated experience building an online community where members move beyond passive content consumption to creating value for each other.
- Experience running a volunteer, ambassador, or creator program end to end: recruitment, activation, recognition, and retention.
- Ability to lead and motivate people who do not report to you, across cultures, languages, and time zones.
- Experience with adult professional communities and audiences.
Strategic Thinking Skills
- Demonstrated experience creating short and long term plans for program development with clearly outlined objectives, at the individual and programmatic level.
- Ability to balance community needs with organizational goals while planning across time zones and language needs.
- Collaborate across the other two Community Team verticals, volunteering and entrepreneurship, to align needs of all 3 communities with growth of the community
Ways of Working
- Self-starting and comfortable with ambiguity. You will be handed priorities, not instructions.
- Experience and sound judgment about what to take on and what to decline. This role could absorb unlimited work, and the person who thrives will protect their own focus.
- Able to hold both halves of the job: big picture strategic thinking and cross collaboration, alongside day-to-day support of the community.
- Collaborative across a small, senior team where everyone owns a lane and the seams between lanes get worked out by talking.
- Honest about capacity. We would rather hear that something will slip than find out later.
