Amen Ikamba's mother was a loan officer in Rwanda. For years she watched the same market vendors come back for the same small loan, running the same size of business they had been running a decade earlier. Not because the businesses were bad. Because none of them had a bank statement, and there was no way for her to prove on paper what she already knew about them.
Amen built the thing her mother needed. PACIN reads a borrower's actual financial behavior through mobile money, bank and telco data, and returns a credit score with a plain-language explanation in under 150 milliseconds. A score earned in Kenya works in Ghana, Rwanda or Nigeria without starting over. Five hundred million Africans have an active mobile money account and no formal credit history. The data was always there. Nobody had built the thing that reads it.
PACIN is one of eleven companies from the AI Ventures Accelerator (AIVA) flying to Delhi next month. Twenty-two founders, most of whom have only met on video calls, will share a room in Delhi for the first time from 4 to 7 October. Demo Day gives them each a chance to explain the company they've been building for six months.
