Technovation is the world’s largest technology entrepreneurship program for girls.

Our mission is to empower girls, especially those from underrepresented communities, to develop problem solving skills, self-efficacy, and financial capacity, critical to them becoming leaders and changemakers in their communities. Through Technovation, girls work in teams supported by mentors to develop mobile & AI based solutions to problems in their communities. Over the past 15 years we have engaged ~350,000 participants across 120+ countries.

About this Opportunity

Technovation is seeking a Program Manager based in the Bay Area to focus on our US club and chapter expansion. The manager will spend 40% of their time on creating and growing 1 Technovation Clubs serving underrepresented students in the Bay Area, 35% of their time cultivating and supporting new partners from strategic locations, and partnerships across the US (virtually), and 25% on program team support.

The ideal candidate is passionate about our mission to empower girls to create technology solutions for problems they identify in their community. Key Responsibilities: 

  • Identify locations, potential partners, and girls in underserved communities in the Bay Area; create and lead 1 club [serving ~30 girls] there in the 2023 Technovation Girls season. This will require in-person presence 1-2x/week.
  • Grow existing partnerships in the US, supporting current ambassadors
  • Lead outreach in the US as needed to strategic locations
  • Onboard and train new US Ambassadors
  • Collaborate with the other Ambassador support staff to increase feelings of community and appreciation among ambassadors
  • Support US Ambassadors throughout the Technovation Girls season by providing support, running networking sessions, collecting data for grant reports, and more
  • Position could include up to 10% travel depending on funding, partnerships, pandemic, and events

Ideal Candidate: 

  • Has 3+ years of experience working as a teacher or directly with youth
  • Has some experience coding or with teaching STEM concepts
  • Has managed projects or programs previously (a plus if this experience includes virtual work)
  • Has a track record of building and maintaining relationships with community organizations or schools
  • Works effectively with diverse people, organizations, communities, and cultures
  • Is comfortable analyzing and learning from data
  • Loves learning new things and is open to dynamic, changing environments
  • Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus

Autonomy. In collaboration and negotiation with staff, you will make high level decisions about the work you will do, and how you will execute it. We don’t micromanage here. Just communicate clearly and discuss decisions with any people affected by it.

Generous benefits and compensation. We offer 20 paid vacation days plus all federal holidays. We pay 100% of your healthcare coverage. Salary commensurate with experience and market rates.

Workplace input. We are open to adopting new workflows, new software, or other improvements that you think would increase our success, if you are able to champion and gain agreement for recommendations from colleagues.

Flexible work environment. We have core hours, but no one is looking over your shoulder. Go to appointments when you need to, as long as you’re getting your work done in good quality and on time.

“Flat” organization. We do have a Leadership Team so that we know who to go to for help with issues and major decisions, and so that we have a clearly defined level of accountability, but you definitely won’t feel like you have a traditional boss or manager. All the way “up” to the CEO, we are transparent and honest. This isn’t fluff for a job posting, it’s something we actively practice and keep in check.
